ANNE MAGUIRE
MEZZO
SOPRANO
"Titanic in retribution yet able to float shimmering passages of tenderness..."
Dramatic Mezzo-soprano Anne Maguire has been heralded by the Houston Press “One of the best singers of (her) generation…Titanic in retribution, yet able to float shimmering passages of tenderness.” Easily recognizable for her “dark” and “opulent” vocal timber, she is the recipient of the 2020 George London award, as well as awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Counsel, Jensen Foundation, Opera Birmingham, and various others. She recently made her Verdian debut as Azucena in Il Trovatore at Opera In the Heights and has also been seen as Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress, Die Hexe in Hänsel und Gretel, Frau Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer, and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible.
